Helping clients manage snoring and sleep apnoea
Matt Everatt, Director of S4S Dental, will be presenting in the CDT Conference and OTA Seminars, on behalf of the OTA, at the Dental Technology Showcase (DTS) this May. Discussing why he feels his session entitled “Snoring & sleep apnoea – A role for the laboratory” is relevant for dental technicians today, he says:
“Obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) and snoring are on the rise as we see a larger number of the population becoming clinically and morbidly obese. In addition, treatment for OSA and snoring is now commonplace in our adult population and patients are becoming increasingly aware that they can find successful treatment from their dentists.
“During my session, delegates will be introduced to the background of OSA and snoring issues. They will be presented with the clinical signs and symptoms and screening protocols to ensure patients are obtaining the very best treatment options for them. My goal is to help delegates become more confident in offering a new product and service to their dental clients who may be caring for these patients.”
About why he would encourage delegates to attend his session at DTS 2022, Matt continues:
“Many dental technicians will have been asked to produce a Mandibular Advancement Device by one of their clients, but have had no previous experience making them. Attending my session will help colleagues consider the different appliances available and begin making them in their own labs, instead of subcontracting them out to other businesses for convenience and cost-efficiency.”
